Lisa Gore Seifart
Dr Lisa Marie Gore Seifart departed this world from Miami on July 9, 2020, after surviving a stroke in December 2019. Lisa was born in Kingston, Jamaica and lived for many years in the communities of Kingston, Jamaica, Miami, Florida, Washington, D.C., and then finally with her husband and children in the East Bay of Northern California. During her 48 years of life, Lisa gave so much of herself and love to so many people. She was a devoted mother and is survived by her beloved sons Lucas (14) and Dylan (12), and her husband of 21 years, Armin. Lisa was a loving daughter and is also survived by her parents Phillip and Catherine Gay, her stepmother, Christine, and her sister and brother, Wendy and Christopher. She was also a much-loved aunt to Nicholas, Danielle and Tommy, and by sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, cousins, nieces and friends.
Lisa earned a B.A. in English from the University of Miami, in Miami, Florida and went on to earn a M.S. in Psychology from Johns Hopkins University, in Baltimore, Maryland. She continued her studies and earned a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Lisa enjoyed the process of providing a sympathetic ear to many and thrived in her counseling role as a Clinical Psychologist. At the time of her stroke in December 2019 she was in a private group practice in Orinda, CA and was an advocate for mental health wellness and education. Prior to that, she provided counseling at the Medical School of Florida International University in Miami, Florida and at Travis Air Force Base Hospital in Fairfield, CA. As a highly trained therapist, Lisa provided help and counseling to many, many appreciative clients. Lisa also was a Director on the Board of the Phillip & Christine Gore Family Foundation, a charitable foundation in Jamaica devoted to the development of Jamaica through a commitment to the education of children. Lisa was able to provide invaluable support and guidance to the Foundation’s Early Childhood School Program to support child developmental issues.
Lisa embraced life fully and was immensely spiritual and loving of the diversity of peoples and every living thing. She loved to travel the world but always at home in Jamaica.
