Linda Susan Ailes passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family Monday, October 21, 2019. She was born April 18, 1960 in Kalamazoo, MI a daughter of Carl and Joanne (Engle) Wisner and had been a lifelong area resident.

Linda was an avid tennis player while she attended Portage Northern High School. While at Northern, she also participated in Band and was an accomplished trumpet player/section leader. In the fall of her senior year, she met her future husband, Ryan Ailes, and later married in the summer of 1980.

After High School, Linda attended Olivet College for 2 years and then transferred to Western Michigan University. There she received her bachelors in Occupational Therapy. After she completed her undergrad, she and Ryan soon started a family with their first born, April. She started her medical career at a hospital in Saint Joseph, MI. During that time, Linda and Ryan welcomed their middle child, Jason. Linda later transferred to Visitors Hospital in Niles/Buchannon, MI. They soon had their third child, Stephen while she continued with her career. During her time at Visitor’s, a fellow therapist, Mary Purrit, convinced her to get her Masters. She was soon accepted to Notre Dame University. While raising a family and studying for her Masters Degree, Linda accepted a position at Borgess Hospital as an OT. Upon completion of her Masters, she was later promoted to Director of Rehab at Borgess, where she served as Director for 11 years.

Linda was very family oriented. She especially cherished being a grandmother and spending time at Duck Lake. Her hobbies included camping, scrapbooking, quilting, cooking, hosting Thanksgiving, refinishing furniture, music and traveling. Linda was noted by many for her outstanding cooking ability. She was a very caring mother, devoted wife and a fun grandmother. Her advice to her grandchildren is to stay in school and take your parents advice.

She is loved and respected by friends and family and will be missed dearly.

On July 26, 1980, Linda married Ryan B. Ailes who survives. Also surviving are three children, April Ailes, Jason (Nicole) Ailes and Stephen (Jamie) Ailes; seven grandchildren, Dylan, Morgan, Jalynn, Liam, Davis, Esmae and Marley; parents, Carl and Joanne Wisner, mother-in-law, Marylou Ailes; three sisters, Karen (David) Booth, Teresa (Greg) Dragoo and Beth (Arthur) Agletingler; and several nieces and nephews.
