Linda Rexroad Spargo was born in Washington, D.C. on May 25, 1944 to Paul and Ava Rexroad. She and her sisters grew up in Washington, D.C. and Lanham, MD. Linda graduated from Duval Senior High School in 1962. She married Calvin Richard Spargo and they settled in Shelby, NC where they raised their three boys.
Linda’s greatest joy was her children. She volunteered at all of their events, including the Elizabeth School PTA, The Cleveland County Boys Club, and Crest Senior High School. She always had a smile on her face when helping others.
Linda enjoyed traveling with Richard and spoke often of her cross country train trip.
Linda received her North Carolina Real Estate Broker’s license in 1977 and worked in the industry for 30 years throughout Cleveland County and the Outer Banks. She continued her education and in 1996 she earned her GRI degree from the NC Realtor Institute.
After Richard passed away, Linda moved to Matthews, NC to be closer to the boys and their families. They all travelled together to San Diego, the Grand Canyon, Georgia, and South Carolina. Linda loved the times she spent with her grandchildren, especially playing games with them. She was truly young at heart. Because she lived on a farm with her longtime friend, Linda had many hours to go 4-wheeling and fishing with her grandchildren. On the farm, she found it peaceful to care for the goats, llama, and pigeons.
Linda passed away on July 3, 2018 with her family by her side.
Linda is survived by her sons: Calvin Daniel Spargo, Thomas Henry Spargo, and James Clayton Spargo; her grandchildren: Alexandra, Virginia, Calvin, Morgan, Bradley, and Katherine; and her sisters: Eve Ferguson, Diane Kavakos, and Susan Roberson.
