Linda Kay (Schorp) Zrzavy passed into the arms of our Lord most unexpected this Thursday, last. It was so emotionally hard to see her planning for a family get together and then turn and walk through the eternal door and into the arms of our Lord and to another reunion with those who had gone before her. She was preceded by her parents Weldon and LaVarah Schorp, a sister Cynthia Hays, aunt Doris McCreless and uncles; John Sweeney, Harding J. Schorp, Col. Alton White, Sister-in-law Jeanie Lee Schorp, niece Allison Maloney and nephews Martin Dailey and Bret Zrzavy. She is survived in mourning by her devoted and loving husband of forty years; Ted J. Zrzavy, Children; Slade J. Zrzavy, TeDee J. Zrzavy, Megan J. Baird (Shawn), and Aimee J. Zrzavy; Grandchildren, who loved their “Granny” include, Libertee K. Zrzavy, Bailey K. Barnes, Justice Hannah Saldaña, Braeden Holt-Leo Maloney and Preston James Baird; Great-Grandchildren, Kaelib Allen Guedea and Jase Cooper Gonzalez; Sister, Wanda (Wayne) Bunch. Brother Louis (Dorothy) Schorp and numerous beloved nieces and nephews all loved very much and too numerous to annotate.Linda was a graduate of SW Texas State University (Now Texas State University) and was a long time resident of Boerne Texas. As a Substitute teacher in Boerne Schools, her love of children and a life of teaching made her affectionately a mom for many who call the Texas Hill Country home. In Boerne if you were lucky to hear someone say, “Mrs. Z,” “Mom,” or “Aunt Linda,” you knew Linda was not far from reach and hung for a hello.Being flexible and adaptable are two key characteristics of her success as a 15 year substitute teacher. Linda was everyone’s mom as she was the FFA and 4H mom. She was everyone’s mom, the mom who would always listen, gave hugs, and advise no matter the circumstances. She knew that all kids come from different backgrounds and that it is difficult to approach any two in the same way except by love. Mrs. “Z” was always willing and able to teach through kindness and understanding, knowing it’s the only way to reach them if even for a while. She was a fantastic teacher and was a very involved one. One of those teachers who searched out every child and not just the ones whom everyone knew would make it. She loved every kid she met and treated them as if her own. We’ve lost our own.
