After an extended illness, Linda went to her Heavenly home. Linda was born to Oscar and Elvie Rester McClendon. She wed James H. Kirkland on August 28, 1959 and raised her family in Carriere, is preceded in death by her husband James H. Kirkland; her parents, Oscar and Elvie Rester McClendon; her siblings, Gary McClendon and Miriam Franklin. She is survived by her children, Kimberly Denise (Leonard) Sones, James Howard Kirkland Jr., Tarrell Eugene (Shirley) Kirkland, Kathy Ann Kirkland of Niceville, FL, and William Glen Kirkland. She is also survived by her siblings, Barry (Sue) McClendon of Tucson, AZ, Andy (Betty) McClendon of Poplarville, MS, and Sharon (Stan) Peters of Niceville, FL. Her grandchildren (6), and her great-grandchildren (8), host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.Linda was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. Everyone who knew her, loved and adored her. She was classy yet simple and would put a smile on your face with her sense of humor. She had a big heart for kids, especially all of her grandchildren. She was a caregiver to many, and a retired bus driver from Pearl River Central High School. Everyone was welcomed with love and food in her home. Most of all, Linda loved the Lord with all of her heart. Her life was dedicated and devoted to Him and making sure everyone knew Him. She is loved and will be missed greatly. The family would like to thank everyone who has sent love and prayers during this difficult time.
