She died at 1:00 am Thursday, October 16, 2014 at the Kobacker House in Columbus. She was born on March 23, 1939 in Roundhead to the late Leroy and Bonnie (Arnett) Haney. On January 29, 1955 she married Charles Whitaker and he survives in Kenton.

Also surviving are 3 sons Rick (Rebecca) Whitaker of Kenton, Ron (Renee) Whitaker of Forest, and Jeff (Susan) Whitaker of Kenton, 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 2 brothers David (Ardith) Haney, and Donald (Cheryl) Haney of Lafayette, 3 sisters Shirley (Tom) Bendele of Waynesfield, Wilma Pitts of Lima, and Judy (Clyde) Jackson.

She was preceded in death by a son Charles Leroy Whitaker Jr and a grandson Mike Whitaker.

Lillie Mae was a real estate broker, but her passion was music, especially Bluegrass Gospel. She and her husband Charles traveled for 54 years performing as Lillie Mae and the Dixie Gospel Aires. She has performed at the Grand Ole Opry 5 times.

She was a member of the Faith Lighthouse Chuch of God. 

Her favorite things in life were her music, her children, and her grandchildren.
