Lillie Louise Burgess, the daughter of Elvena (Schlenz) and Baxter Bee Burgess, was born December 22, 1937 at her parent’s home in Lebanon, Kansas. She departed this life on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the Salina Regional Health Center in Salina, Kansas at the age of 79 years, 4 months and 11 days.
A lifelong resident of the area, Lillie received her formal education attending rural school at Bellaire. Lillie was employed as a housekeeper working in individual homes, the nursing home and hospital until her retirement. She had a number of hobbies and interests including collecting dolls, working crossword puzzles, watching and feeding birds, and lovingly caring for her many houseplants. Lillie was a member of the First Christian Church in Downs.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Elvena and Baxter Burgess; a sister, Ruby Davis and a brother, Charles Burgess.
Left to treasure her memory are her brother, Sam Burgess and wife Darlene. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews that she deeply loved and cared for, as well as other relatives and a host of friends.
A memorial fund has been established by the family.
