Lillian (Howland) Baker
It is with sadness and joy that we announce that Lillian has slipped the surly bonds of earth on this date February 5, 2016 and now dances the skies on laughter-silvered wings. She was born the daughter of Oscar and Emma (Ricks) Howland on McDaniel Mtn., in Shady, New York on April 7, 1920. Her free spirited nature brought many an adventure into her life. She was always searching for the elusive whatever. With seventeen siblings life was exciting and fast paced. At 16 she left the mountain for Brooklyn to learn the art of hairdressing, from there she connected with others and held various positions.
Lillian eventually settled in CT and worked at Pratt & Whitney during the war. She had a young family to care for. Next stop Manchester where she raised her children and had two more sons. She took a position in the office with Iona Mfg. and stayed ten years.
