“If you work hard enough and assert yourself, you can shape the world. Lewis A. Stayton shaped his world in his own steadfast way. Lew was brave, determined, and witty and loved to push your buttons. The adventure had taken him through his whole life and ended peacefully on Sunday, December 16, 2018, at his home in Pemberton, surrounded by his family at the age of 85.

Mr. Stayton was born in Felton, DE, and had recently been a resident of Pemberton. He had contributed to upholding the ideals of our American freedoms in the United States Navy, serving in Korea, and spent 20 years in the Army National Guard. Mr. Stayton served as a Police Officer and made his career working for the Burlington County Bridge Commission Police Department. Following his retirement, Lew tended to his 600-acre farm in Upshur County, West Virginia. He loved to hunt and cheer on NASCAR following his favorite drivers #14 Mark Martin and #19 Martin Truex. He will fondly be remembered as stubborn but committed. Mr.

Stayton is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years Jacqueline L. (nee Humes) and is the father of; Donna & her late husband Mark Thurman, Sherri & her husband the Honorable David Patriarca, Mayor of Pemberton, Grace A. & her husband Edward Bisch, the late James T. Stayton and his widow Cecelia. He is the proud grandfather of; Michael & his wife Jennifer Patriarca, Nicole Olenick-Polukord & her husband Shawn, Angela & her husband Drew Travia, Jenifer & her husband Dustin Jackiewicz, Andrew Stayton, and Zachary Page. He is the proud great-grandfather of 10 and great, great-grandfather of 1.
