Those left to honor Lester’s memory are his father and step-mother, Ray and Jan Smothers of Colfax; mother, Karolyn Kay Smothers of Waukee; his 5 brothers and sisters, Cindy (and Mark) Irvin of Waukee, Connie Smothers of Newton, twin brother, Louis (and Alla) Smothers of Mingo, Shawn (and Amy) Smothers of Waukee, and Megan (and Jeff) Tindle of Montezuma; step-grandparents, Wilbur and Coleen Robson of Colfax; 12 nieces and nephews, Amber, Chris, Lance, Josh, Ethan, Austin, Nathan, Brooke, Abby, Gavin, Sawyer, and Peyton; and his great-nephew, Cade.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Lester was a graduate of Dubuque High School in Dubuque, Iowa in 1990. He was employed in various jobs with Progress Industries in Newton.
He was a member of the VFW Post 1655 Auxiliary.
