Lester L. Shaffer, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2014. Lester was born July 24, 1924 in Shelby, MI the son of Clinton E. and Lida O. Knapp Shaffer and lived in the Grant area for many years before moving to Kalamazoo 2 years ago. Lester was employed as a metal finisher, for over 45 years and served in the United States Army/Air Corps for 3 years, during WWII. On May 14, 1946, he married Beverly Jean McClain, who survives.
He is also survived by their children, Corvin Carol Shaffer, Gary Mary Shaffer, Pamela Shaffer Bob Boik, and Brenda Shaffer Michael Mahon; 10 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; his brother and sister-in-law, George Mary Lou Shaffer; a sister and brother-in-law, Lois James Bush; 4 sisters-in-law and 2 brothers-in-law; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
