Lessie Cantrell Hunt, 86, of Huntsville died Wednesday at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. She was born Jan. 15, 1925, to George and Addie Cantrell in the New Sharon area of Alabama.

She is survived by her four children, Houston, Rex, Danny and Teresa. Mrs. Hunt has nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also, she is survived by her twin sister, Dessie Wimberly and her brother, James Cantrell.

She married Herman Houston Hunt on Aug. 24, 1946, and was married 64 years. Her husband took care of her for 22 years after she had a major stroke in August 1985. Herman went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 30, 2010.

Mrs. Hunt was a member of Jackson Way Baptist Church for 61 years. She joined when it was known as Fifth Street Baptist, then Second Baptist, and then Jackson Way Baptist.

She was confined to a wheelchair for 26 years but had a sweet disposition and a positive outlook on life. Mrs. Hunt inspired many people with her deep faith in God and her great love for her family and friends.
