Les passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family, friends and neighbors.
He was born and raised in Harvard, IL.
Les was a big Notre Dame fan and avid fisherman. He loved spending his summers on Lilly Lake, where he was famous for his fish fries and margaritas. Les enjoyed traveling, he was very proud of the fact that he had traveled 49 out of 50 states, Canada and the Bahamas.
Preceding him in passing were his beloved wives Alberta (Watson) of 44 years and Shirley (Felty) of 10 years. He was also preceded in death by his parents; Henry and Katherine and brothers; Leroy and Henry.
Surviving are three sons, Larry of Granger, IN, George Werner of Oklahoma City, OK and Charlie Werner of Redding, CA; a daughter, Michelle DeCleene of Bristol, IN; a sister, Caroline Bonifield of Crete, IL; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and much loved extended family members.
Les retired from bartending at both Beacon and Chippewa Bowling Alleys. Prior to bartending, he was a retiree from Bendix. Les was a long time member of Moose Lodge #58, where he was one of the original members, founding the annual Thanksgiving Day Dinner for local mental health patients over 20 years ago.
