Leslie D.

She was born on September 19, 1948 in Rome, to the late William E.B. (Butch) and Ethel Gould Walter. She attended Rome schools and graduated from RFA in 1966. On September 30, 1967, she married George Patton Hoffman in Taberg, a blessed union of 46 years until his passing on January 9, 2014. Leslie worked 29 years for the State of New York, serving 16 years at the Rome DDSO and 13 years at the Office of Children and Family Services at the Annsville Residential Center and the Taberg Residential Center. She retired in April 2002 due to disability.

Leslie was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Rome. She was a charter member and former officer of CSEA Local #563 and served on the Annsville/Taberg Residential Centers Advisory Board. She also worked as a volunteer Bill Payer for the Oneida County Office for the Aging.

Leslie is survived by two daughters and sons in law, Kelly and Leroy Pitt of Whitesboro and Karen and Tom Netzband of Verona; four grandchildren she worshiped and adored, Samantha Ann, George Thomas, Ryan James and Dakota James; two sisters, Linda F. McNamara of Rome and Debra Lee Walter of Rome; two brothers and sisters in law, Bill and Mary Lou Walter of Waterville, and Steven and Deborah Walter of Vernon, NJ; several nieces and nephews; a best friend of 49 years, Ann R. Britton, who’s friendship meant everything to Leslie; and “adopted” grandson, Matthew Scott Kopec, and a “special daughter,” Jodi Babcock. She was predeceased by a brother, Wyatt Lance Walter.
