Leslie Moore, 58, longtime resident of Galesburg, died Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
She was born on August 20, 1960 in Galesburg to Elizabeth and Robert Shunick. They preceded her in death.
Leslie is survived by her 3 children, Char Shunick, Elizabeth Shunick, and Tearyll Sunick. Her sister, Sheila Shunick and her brother, Matthew Shunick also survive. She leaves behind seven grandchildren: Juliana Rogers, Gracie Leiby, Giovanni Pacheco, Angelo Pacheco, Octavion Shunick, Briella Shunick, and Amarah Shunick.
Leslie was politically active in the last decade of her life tirelessly fighting for equality. She was field organizer for SEIU (Service Employees International Union) Healthcare Illinois and Indiana and volunteered for various political campaigns. She had various jobs throughout her life. The most recent was caring for others. Leslie lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; talking endlessly on her phone, enjoying homemade food, and spending time with her grandchildren. Leslie never met a stranger. She could talk endlessly to any person that she just met. She always welcomed anyone into her home at any time. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all that knew her.
