LeRoy H. VanGorp passed away Friday evening, January 9, 2015 at his home. He was born on December 6, 1928 in Centerline, MI, the son of Stanley and Irene Detroyer VanGorp. LeRoy was a veteran of the United States Navy honorably serving during World War II. On September 17, 1949, he was married to the former Rita Heffner. LeRoy was employed by General Motors Corp for 36 years until his retirement.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Rita VanGorp; three children, Rick Deb VanGorp of Portage, Irene Gordon McIntosh of Chesterfield and Mary Gerald Hantz of Shelby Township; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Stanley VanGorp. Friends may visit with LeRoy’s family from 2-5 PM on Wednesday, January 14, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Avenue.
