Leroy E. Shaffer, 68, of Terre Haute, passed away September 5, 2015 after a lengthy battle with lung cancer. He was born in Terre Haute to Leo and Betty (Smith) Shaffer and remained a lifelong resident of the city. He served in Vietnam where he received a purple heart. He is survived by his son Leroy J. Shaffer; and his siblings of Terre Haute James and Ronald Shaffer, Vickie Joy, Jane Shaffer, Stephanie Rusin, Margaret Swank, Darlene (Richard) Unger, Doris (Daniel) Williams, and Anna Berney of Michigan. Survivors also include many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Mark, Bob, and Kenneth Shaffer. The family is grateful to Southern Care Hospice for the dedication and TLC given to their brother with expert care.
