Leonetta Serra Rayford, 88, widow of James M. Rayford, JR, of Bristol, passed away at her home on Monday, May 12, 2008.
Mrs. Rayford was born on August 18, 1919 in Waterbury, CT a daughter of the late Antonio and Angelina (Giramondi) Serra.
Leonetta retired from Wallace Barnes as a computer librarian and was voted Woman of the Year from the Wallace Barnes Girls Club.
She was an avid swimmer who won 1st place for four years in a row at the Senior Olympics and enjoyed a variety of sports including baseball and bowling. She was active within the Bristol Senior Center and the Bristol Senior Center Association, having helped form the Friends of Bristol Senior Center and serving on their Board of Directors and also as the Secretary. Leonetta was well traveled having enjoyed many trips to Europe and the Caribbean.
Mrs. Rayford is survived by her brothers and sister-in-law Delfino B. and Margaret Serra of LaSalle, MI and Adolph “Gino” Giramondi of Bristol; her sister and brother-in-law Edith S. and Ernest Morris of Vancouver, WA and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Ernest Giramondi, Margaret (Giramondi) Herriott, Paris Giramondi and John Serra.
