Leonard Stanley Washkowiak, 86, of Peru, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Mr. Washkowiak was born October 12, 1928, in LaSalle to Stanley and Anna (Pawloski) Washkowiak.
He married Anna Mae Martin on November 28, 1953, at St. Joseph’s Church in Peru. He was an office manager at the Hennepin Power Station for more than 35 years. He served on the Board of Directors of the Utility Employees LaSalle Service Area Credit Union from 1958 to 1989. Mr. Washkowiak was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Peru and the Holy Name Society. He was a life member of the LaSalle Knights of Columbus and a member of the Platter Club. He volunteered as a Red Coat at Illinois Valley Community Hospital in 1990.
Survivors include his wife, Anna; two daughters, Nancy (Karl) Heck of Peru and Sandra Washkowiak of Oswego; two sons, Wayne (Sally) Washkowiak of Spring Valley and Paul (Cathy) Washkowiak of Springfield; three grandchildren, Steven Grigalunas, Holly Grigalunas, and Louie Washkowiak; and two great-grandchildren, Eli and Mirah Grigalunas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Virginia Dobberstein.
