Leonard W. Johnson, 88 of Gilmore City. Leonard Johnson, the son of Gunnard and Dora (Olson) Johnson was born September 21, 1924 in Lanyon, Iowa and graduated from Dana High School in 1943. He was united in marrage with Doris Anderson on June 29, 1947 in Gowrie, Iowa. His survivors include his children: Lavonne Hoover, Gilmore City, IA, Gary Johnson,Gilmore City, IA Carolyn(Bill) Holt,Ames, IA Lowell(Rennie) Johnson,Gilmore City, IA, Barb (Mike) Randolph,Gilbert, IA, Connie (Jim) Dudding, Huxley, IA Bruce (Cheryl) Johnson,Humboldt, IA 17 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Leonard ran the game clock for football, baseketball and wrestling events at the Gimore City High School for over 30 years. The press box is named after Leonard. Gilmore City fun days started in 1983 and Leonard was part of the parade every year on his Simplicity mowers. He worked at the Gilmore City Limestone for over 25 years and part time at the Standard Gas Station and assisted neighbors in a lawn mower business. After his retirement he started his own lawn mower buusiness selling Simplicity mowers, a company he was a dealer for for over 30 years. Leonard was a member of Faith United Methoidst Church in Gilmore City. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father in law, wife Doris in 1997, brothers, LeRoy and Milton Johnson and sister Ardis Kinsman, sons, Duane and Dennis, son in law Mike Randolph and daughter in law DenisE (Wright) Johnson.
