LEONARD MAURICE HARDING, age 89, died October 31, 2002 at his home in Manassas. Mr. Harding was born in Culpeper County on September 9, 1913. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 until Dec. 7, 1945. He was aboard an L.S.T. in the invasion of Normandy. Mr. Harding lived in Front Royal for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Front Royal, serving as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was currently a member of the Manassas Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his late parents, Mollie and Maurice Harding; two brothers, Everette and Willard Harding; one sister, Thelma Morrison; and his first wife, Myrtle Day Harding. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Jessie Lee Harding; one daughter and son-in-law, Molly Anne and Ralph Powell; three grandchildren, Roxie Gray, Robin Powell and Ron Powell; and four great-grandchildren, B.J. and Justin Gray and Amanda and Adam Powell.
