Leonard G. “Windy” Jones, the son of William and Mary (Forsberg) Jones, was born March 27, 1932 in Williamson, Iowa. He and his family moved to Newton, Iowa in 1942. At Newton High School Leonard played football, basketball, and track, but basketball was the sport he loved. He graduated in 1950.
From 1951-1955, Leonard was in the U.S. Air Force. On October 11, 1953 he married Twila J. Crook. They had two children, David and Linda. Leonard was a paint technician for the Maytag company where he retired in August of 1983. He then was a paint contractor retiring in 1997.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents and his four brothers, Don, Charley, Henry, and Harold. Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Twila; his son and daughter-in-law, David and Lisa Jones of Newton; his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Wayne Madison of Newton, his four grandchildren, Lauren and Zachary Jones and Chase and Sarah Madison all of Newton; and his sister, Phyllis McBroom and Cedar Falls, Iowa.
