Leonard “Lenny” Bruce Parks, Sr., Miskwaankwad which means “Red Cloud”, age 54, of Cass Lake, MN and the Bear Clan, journeyed to the spirit world on Thursday, December 30th, 2021, from the Sanford Hospital in Bemidji, MN. He was born on August 28, 1967, in Cass Lake, MN the son of Charlotte (Pruett) and James Robert Parks.
Lenny enjoyed riding motorcycle, golfing, going to the casino, dancing at powwows, stock car races, fishing, and above all else spending time with family and friends. He loved his children, grandchildren, his USA family, and his Canada family. He was such a humorous man and was a people person. He never met a stranger. Although he was sick, one would never know he was in pain, he hid that well. He was always smiling and stopping to talk with people. Our hearts are broken but we know he is no longer in pain, that he is at peace, and he will always be in our hearts. He was a loving father, husband (his wife’s hero), brother, teacher, and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Those that Lenny will be joining in the spirit world are his adopted parents, Charlotte and James Robert Parks; biological parents, Leonard Headbird, Jr. and Cheryl Ann Brown; brother, Pete Headbird; aunt, Gretal Parks; uncle, Ed Parks; sister-in-law, Peggy Parks; and numerous other family members from MN, Missouri, and Canada.
Those left behind to cherish Lenny’s memory are his wife, Madeline of Cass Lake; sons, Lenny Parks, Jr. of Rolla, Missouri, and James “Jimmy” Parks of Cass Lake; daughters, Lena (Jonah) Copenace of Canada, Jennifer (Matt) Thedford of Rolla, MO and Angela (Tyler) Copenace of Canada; brothers, Vincent Parks of Salem, MO, Dennis Brown, Jeff Brown, Robert “Bob” (Dawn) Jaspers, Donnie (Sara) Dunn, Jesse Headbird all of Cass Lake, Jake (Lexi) Headbird of Bemidji; sisters, Tina Headbird and Jessica (Melvin) Headbird both of Cass Lake; 8 grandchildren; special aunt, Wanda Parks; uncles, Donnie (Nikki) Headbird, Melvin (Shelly) Goodman, Randy Finn all of Cass Lake, Robert “Jappy” (Maureen) Headbird of Brooklyn Park, MN, Todd (Elaine) Parks and Rick (Paula) Chapman both of Salem, MO, Mike (Charmaine) Pruett and Don (Paula) Stewart both of St. Louis, MO; brothers-in-law, Patrick Copenace, Norman Copenace, Francis Kavanaugh; sisters-in-law, Gloria Green (Lenny’s partner in crime), Dorothy Copenace (Lenny’s caretaker), Betty Kavanaugh, and Virginia (Junior) BigGeorge; cousin, Sara Headbird; and numerous other family and friends.
