Leon Ruyle, 74, of Meredosia, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 9, 1934, in Meredosia, the son of John and Lena Newman Ruyle. He married Carol Pulling on Oct. 18, 1957, in Jacksonville and she survives.
He is also survived by three children, Renee (Daniel) Hardwick and Mark Ruyle (Kelly Huddleston), both of Meredosia, and Leigh Ann (Brian) Test of Quincy; five grandchildren, Trevin and Kelsey Hardwick, Alexandra Crow, and Shane and Patrick Test; four great grandchildren Luca, Darian, Jordan and Dylan; two sisters, Doris Hilton and Connie (John) Petri, and one brother, Tucker (Wanda) Ruyle, all of Meredosia. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Loretta Flynn, Lou Asbury (surviving husband Bill of Arkansas) and Sharon in infancy; and two brothers, Dean and Lawrence (surviving wife Sally of Meredosia).
Mr. Ruyle worked at Cargill Elevator in Meredosia for 37 years, retiring in 1997. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He had also been a commercial fisherman and enjoyed being on the river. He also enjoyed setting up at flea markets and was a true Cardinals fan.
