Leon Greathouse passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Thursday, February 14, 2019, in Stockton, California, at the age of 75. Leon was born November 22, 1943, in Meza, Arizona, the youngest child born to the late George D. and Eula Lee Greathouse.

Leon attended grade school in the Stockton Unified School District and graduated from Franklin High School in 1961. He furthered his education and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from San Fernando Valley State College (now known as Cal State University Northridge) in 1965 and a Master of Education degree in 1973 from the University of Washington.

As an educator and counselor, Leon had a rewarding career for over 30 years serving in the Stockton and Lodi Unified School Districts and in private educational institutions in San Francisco, CA, and Seattle, WA. He also served in these capacities for the California Youth Authority in Stockton, CA. His passion for serving others extended his reach in the community as a licensed real estate agent with the Grupe Company.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents George D. and Eula Lee Greathouse and brother, George Cecil Greathouse.

He leaves to cherish his legacy three children: Shannon Greathouse of Laguna Niguel, CA, Devonne Alvarado (Fernando) of Stockton, CA and Afton Greathouse (Shannon) of Lincoln CA; six grandchildren: Journee Greathouse, Josiah Boone, Amiyrah Greathouse, Isla Greathouse, Desmond Greathouse, Delano Alvarado; one great-grandchild: James Greathouse; sister: Delores Greathouse-Wright of Stockton, CA; and a host of relatives and friends.
