Leon Charles Glowicki

Leon Charles Glowicki, age 79, a devoted and loving husband and father, passed away Friday, November 18, 2016, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Saginaw, after a lengthy struggle with lung disease.He was born December 21, 1936 in Fisherville to John and Anna (Wisniewski) Glowicki. He was a lifelong resident of Bay City and graduated in 1956 from Bay City Central where he played football with the Central Wolves. He was in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958 and served in Korea for 17 months with the 7th Division, 17th Infantry (Combat Engineers Group). He was on the Rifle Team for 17th Infantry and was honorably discharged in October 1958. He married Judy (Smith) Glowicki on July 14, 1962, and they recently celebrated their 54th anniversary. Leon, who was known as Bud to his family and Zeke to his friends, loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed fishing and camping at Jellystone Park, Traverse City and especially deer hunting with his friends at Trout Lake in the U.P., his nephews at Cross Village, and most recently with his good hunting buddies at Mink Lake Club at Lupton.He worked at G.M. Powertrain Plant in Bay City for 34 years retiring in February 2000. He worked two full time jobs, one at Coca Cola Bottling Plant, Bay City and at Powertrain for two years before he decided to devote his career to G.M.Surviving are his wife Judy; two sons, Scott (Tami) Glowicki, of Cypress, TX; and Steven Glowicki of Venice, CA; one brother, Don (Elaine) Glowicki of Elk Rapids; one sister, Ruth Dobrinski of Bay City; sisters-in-law, Audrey Hawkins of Livonia, Marlene Smith of Traverse City, and Holly Smith, of White Lake; Sally Glowicki of Bay City and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmer, John and Barney; brothers-in-law,Joe Dobrinski,Don Smith, Jim Smith, Chuck Harkins and Cecil Williams; and sisters-in-law, Madge Glowicki, Dena Brandt, Midge Daoust and Phyllis Williams.
