Leon (PeeWee, Pete) Carter, 72, of Paragould, AR, passed away Monday, January 30, 2017, at his home. After a long battle with cancer, he won the victory. Leon was born April 2, 1944, in Trumann, AR, to Ruben L. and Versie Mae (Morgan) Carter. He attended McCormick Schools until his family moved to Dixie, AR, where he found a group of life friends in his graduating class of 1962. Leon moved to Paragould, AR, in 1963, where he met and married the love of his life, Freda (Coleman) Carter, on March 7, 1964. They moved to Elkhart, Indiana where he and Freda were blessed to become parents to Lisa and Tony. Leon became a Christian in 1966 and served the Lord faithfully until his death. He was member of Seventh and Mueller Church of Christ. He loved his God, wife and children. He especially enjoyed being a grandpa. Leon liked to deal in real estate, meet with his friends around the “table of knowledge” for coffee at McDonald’s, and he liked St. Louis Cardinals baseball. He especially enjoyed traveling to Jupiter, FL for Spring Training in March with his wife and friends, Peggy and Dillman Cothern. Leon retired as a tool and die maker from Monroe Auto in 1992 and from Real Estate Appraising and co-owner of TIME Realty in 2003. He served in the Elkhart, Indiana National Guard for 8 years.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister, Edna Mae Carter; three brothers, James (Bud) Carter, Richard (Dick) Carter and J.D. Jones.

Survivors include his loving wife, Freda; one daughter, Lisa Carter Johnson and her partner, Brian Gomer, of Paragould, AR; one son, Tony Carter and his wife, Karen of Jonesboro, AR; and his grandchildren, Heather Howe and Tyler Howe of Paragould, AR, Brianna Carter (Tyler) Hampton of Stanford, AR, Makayla (Dillion Morgan) Carter of Paragould, AR, and Karli Barker of Jonesboro, AR; four special people Kaegan Gomer, Seth Gomer, Jayden (Kingfish) Gordon and Olivia Morgan, all of Paragould, AR; one sister, Charlsie (Kitty and Charles) Beaver of Memphis, TN; one brother, Kenneth (Jim and Sue) Carter of Elkhart, IN; mother-in-law, Geneva Coleman; and all of his brothers in law, sisters in law, many nieces and nephews who all loved him dearly.
