Fitchburg – Leo R. Gariepy Sr., 90, of Fitchburg, died April 26, 2014 at UMass Memorial Medical Center, Worcester, after a brief illness. He was born November 18, 1923, son of the late Ovide and Dorilla (Lyonnaise) Gariepy. Mr. Gariepy was an owner of Gariepy Furniture Store of Leominster for many years until his retirement. During retirement he worked part time for Rotman’s Furniture of Worcester. He also drove school buses both in Florida and the local area. He was a member of St. Cecilia’s Parish. His wife Eileen (Regan) Gariepy passed away in 1978.
He was a loving father to two sons; Lee Gariepy and his wife Arlene, of Naples, FL, Timothy M. Gariepy and his wife Dr. Erika Peterson of Milwaukee, WI, two daughters; Susanne Sambito and her husband Michael, of Westminster, MA and Deborah Borg and her husband John, of Epping, NH. He leaves two brothers; L. Paul Gariepy of Leominster and George Gariepy of Ocala, FL, three sisters; Jeannette Thibault of Fitchburg, Doris DiRusso of Leominster, and Marie Gould of Pinellas Park, FL. Papa enjoyed his many years with his eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
