Leo “Butch” Martin Montgomery Jr., 83, passed away June 8, 2020. He was born March 27, 1937 in Terre Haute to Leo Martin Montgomery Sr. and Ora Gibb Montgomery. Leo was a 1954 graduate of Wiley High School.  Leo was a proud Air Force veteran, and a member of the American Legion. He was stationed in Wyoming, Kansas City, and Texas. He also enjoyed motorcycles and was a member of the Scorpions motorcycle club. He worked for many years as an electrician at Pillsbury and the Vigo County School Corporation.  He was quite the handyman, with a knack for creating and designing. In his later years he love doing jigsaw puzzles, building models, crosswords, and crypto notes. He was a very good baseball player and bowler thanks to being left-handed. He coached Little League baseball and even won a state championship. He was an intelligent father figure to a lot of young individuals. He was full of fun, full of life, and lived by his own terms. He was well loved in the community, and will be missed by many.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Etta Mae Montgomery, a brother, Jack Cruse, and grandchildren Randy Montgomery, and Cory Montgomery. He is survived by children Deone Montgomery, Darla Montgomery, Bryan Montgomery, Lucreta Martin, Tracy Montgomery Pruden, and Richard Montgomery, grandchildren Bryanna Montgomery, Andre Pruden, Alexandria Montgomery, and Sparkle Montgomery, a cousin Maryellen Allen, and special friends Bobby Joe Williams, and Lloyd Smith.
