Leo B. Carr, 73, of Galesburg, died at 3:40 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2013 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital. Leo was born September 28, 1939 in Galesburg, the son of Thomas J. Carr Sr. and Winifred Josephine (Hoben) Carr. He married Elaine DeSchepper on October 30, 1965 in Kewanee.

She preceded him in death on October 24, 1998.  Leo is survived by one son, Charles “Chuck” (Cathy) of Creve Coeur; two daughters, Amy (Mark) Canaday of Dekalb and Ann (Robert) Lascelles of Ipava; and one sister, Mary Madeline Carr of Galesburg. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Brandon, Chad, and Christopher Canaday, Molly, Jared, Erin, Maggie, and Sophie Lascelles. In addition to his wife, Elaine, Leo was preceded in death by one daughter, Winifred Patricia Carr; one granddaughter, Brianna Marie Carr-Canaday; five brothers, Thomas Joseph Carr of Galesburg, Francis Michael Carr of Rio, James Edward Carr of Littleton, CO, Norman Carr in Ireland, and Patrick Eugene Carr who was lost at sea; and a sister, Bernadine Ann Gardner of Littleton, CO. Leo attended St. Joseph’s Academy and graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1957.

He then went to and graduated from radio school in Chicago.  Leo served his country in the US Air Force. He worked for Butler Mfg. for 34 years, retiring in 1987.  Leo was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Galesburg American Legion Ralph M. Noble Post #285 and its Honor Guard; and Father J.O. Hunt Knights of Columbus Council 556.  More than anything Leo loved his family and spending time with them.
