Leo Ammian , 71
Latham Leo Ammian , 71 ,of Crystal Lane Latham, died Thursday, February 10, 2005 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy after a long illness.
Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Dickran Ammian and Alice (Maksudian) Ammian and husband for 42 years of Winifred Kalmbach Ammian.
He was raised in Troy and resided the past 42 years in Latham and was a 1961 graduate of Siena College.
Mr. Ammian was the manager of Reliable Brands, a wholesale meat supplier in Albany for 37 years, retiring in 1997.
He was a member of St. Peter Armenian Apostolic Church in Watervliet and a member of the Parish Council and past president of the Mr. and Mrs. Club. He was a former member of the Simonian-Avakian Post VFW and recently was named to the Edward Picken Troy High School Hall of Fame. From 1976-1989 he owned and raced, race horses at Saratoga and was a member of the Harness Horse Racing Association. He was an avid golfer and Siena basketball and New York Yankee fan and was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors in addition to his wife include three daughters, Christine Egan (Michael) of Latham, Lisa Hansen (Peter) of Stamford, CT and Susan Quackenbush (Andrew) of Clifton Park; two brothers, Harry Ammian (Rosemary) of Troy and Richard Ammian (Joan) of Fort Orange, FL; seven grandchildren, Bryan and Sean Egan, Jacob, Grace, Audra and Anna Hansen and Samuel Quackenbush and several nieces and nephews including Alice and Harry Ammian and Donna Vallee.
