Lena VanOosterum, age 91 of Kalamazoo, died November 23, 2019, at Rose Arbor Hospice. She was born August 7, 1928, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Marinus and Gerritie (Scholten) Weststrate.
Lena was married to Reinard VanOosterum on September 4, 1948. They were members of Comstock Christian Reformed Church. Her family includes her children: Robert VanOosterum and Linda (Bruce) Prince; her step-granddaughters: Michelle and Cheryl and her step-great-grandson Nicholas; her sister Jeanette Simkins and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Reinard, her son Reinard “Sparky” VanOosterum, and her siblings: Gerard, William, Marie, Henry, Helena, John, Adrian “Bud”, and John, Jr.
