Lena (Ballerini) Vescogni, 97, of LaSalle, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2017 at Heritage Manor of Peru. Mrs. Vescogni was born on June 16, 1920 in Ladd to Joseph and Erminia (Castelli) Ballerini.

She married Bruno G. Vescogni on February 14, 1942 at St. Benedict’s Church in Ladd. Lena graduated from Rockford Business School. She retired from Westclox in Peru after many years of employment and also played in the softball league. She was a member of the Queen of the Holy Rosary Church and the church’s Altar and Rosary Society, and also volunteered at bake sales and spaghetti suppers. She enjoyed cooking, swimming and traveled extensively with her dear friends.

She is survived by her three sons, Richard (Linda) Vescogni of Belton, MO, Bruce (Emily) Vescogni of Peru and David (Luanne) Vescogni of LaSalle; eight grandchildren, Gene (Christie) Vescogni, Erik Vescogni, Jennifer (Bob Guida) Vescogni, Brian (Shelly) Vescogni, Brent (Jennifer) Vescogni, Bradd (Christie) Vescogni, Christofer (Holly) Vescogni and Tanya (Tom) Smith; 18 great-grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1977; her son, Albert “Butch” in 1980; and 8 siblings, Virginia Ferrari, Eugene Ballerini, Armando “Baldy” Ballerini, Flora Pattarozi, Theresa Talioli, Joseph Ballerini, Virgil “Leo” Ballerini and Edith Koehler.
