Len ‘C’ Humphries, 87, of Egin, Idaho, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at his home, following a lingering illness.
Len was born November 15, 1928, in Woodville, Idaho, to William Chesley Humphries and Marilda Louise Chaffin Humphries. He attended school in Ammon, Idaho. He served in the United States Army 7th Calvary as a military policeman during the Japanese war crime trials. He served a three-year mission to the Japan Mission from 1950 to 1953. On June 9, 1954, he married Fern Christensen in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
Len and Fern made their home in the Idaho Falls area where Len worked for the Idaho Wholesale Grocery as a warehouse foreman in Idaho Falls and Pocatello, Idaho. They lived in Missoula, Montana, from 1968 to 1972 where Len managed the Western Montana Wholesale Grocery. In June 1972 the family moved to Egin where Len ran the Egin Merc until 2004. Len and Fern moved to their daughter Beth’s home in Lyman where they resided until spring of 2014 when they moved back to Egin.
Len enjoyed the outdoors, camping and fishing, and he enjoyed serving people in his store and pulling practical jokes on his customers and family.
Len is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Fern;

Daughter, Reneta Adamson of Shelley, ID;
Son, Gerald ‘J’ (Gina) Humphries of Egin, ID;
Daughter, Venae (Brett) Hokanson of Rigby, ID;
Daughter, Beth (Kerry) Baldwin of Lyman, ID;
Brothers, Jess, Jerry, and Ron Humphries and sisters, Bertha Baxter, Leah Hill, and Marvel Yates;
23 Grandchildren, 39 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Alex Chris Humphries; two grandsons, Jonathon Adamson and Kason Adamson; his parents; two sisters, Ruth Ciesielski and Ruby Montague; and brothers, Dean and Deloy Humphries.
