Lela May Norris, the daughter of Carl C. and Augusta Schultz Reichelt, was born February 2,1903 in rural Kellogg, Iowa. She graduated from Newton High School in 1921, and then began to teach country school in State College, now Iowa State University but quit to return to teaching in Sibley and Newburg, Iowa.

On June 9,1927, Lela was united in marriage to Alvertus C, Morris in Newton. Together they farmed in the Rushville area of Jasper County, which is North and West of Kellogg. She remained on the farm following Alvertus’s death in 1978, until she move into Park Centre in 1995. Lela was a homemaker, and enjoyed her gardening, sewing, knitting, ceramics, and traveling. She was a member of the Eastern Star Chaoter 100, Amboy Grange, Past President of Farm Bureau Women and Kellogg Garden Club. 

Lela was proceeded in death by her parents; her husband Alvertus; her brother, Don Reichelt and her sister, Grace Reichelt.
