Lela Black Cross, age 88, of Richmond, Indiana, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Golden Rule Nursing Home in Richmond, Indiana.

 

Born February 4, 1934, in Rowan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert Black and Ida Mae Brown Tackett.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers:  Ranze Black, C. O. Black, Emerson Black, Wilson Black, Jeffrey Black, and Christopher Black, and two sisters, Clara Spurlock and Tina Black.

 

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Bernard Cross on April 17, 2012, and one daughter, Linda Bostick on January 2, 2022.

 

Lela is survived by four daughters: Deborah Jonges (Michael) of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Donna Saidi of Sarasota, Florida, Kandis Swim (Jonas) of Milton, Indiana, and Lindsay Darnell of Richmond, Indiana; one son, Tim Cross (Sandy) of Sarasota, Florida; and son-in-law, Chris Bostick of Richmond, Indiana; eight grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

 

Other survivors include three brothers, Michael Black of Colfax, Bobby Black of Goddard, and Jerry Black of Owingsville; four sisters, Verniece Chambers of Corbin, Delphia Holbrook of Hillsboro, Alma Campbell of Morehead, and Brenda Hunt of Owingsville; several nieces and nephews; as well as other family and friends.
