Leila Mae (Regen) Dardick, 97, of Storrs, CT passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation where she had resided for the past two years. Born May 10, 1920 she was the daughter of Oscar and Beatrice Regen, sister of Alice Cohlan and wife of Bruce Dardick.

Leila was a proud graduate of James Madison High School, Brooklyn College and Teachers College of Columbia University. She worked as a Speech and Language Therapist in the Naugatuck Schools. She was an avid golfer, scoring her third hole-in-one at age 89. Leila also was a lifelong devotee of the NYTimes crossword (in ink) and bridge enthusiast. Jewish life was important to her – she sang in the choir at the United Jewish Center in Danbury, was an active member of Hadassah in New Haven and Delray, and was President of the local chapter of ORT in Delray.

Leila was predeceased by her husband and by her son Yaakov (James). She is survived by her sons Kenneth and Lawrence; grandchildren Lauren, Jeremy and Alex of the United States and Avraham Shmuel, Yitzhak Isaac, Sara Chaya, Moshe Yehuda, Fraida Miriam, Chana Gittel, Brucha Yehudis, Shimon Asher, Dovid Yehoshua, Adel Zissa of Israel; great-grandchildren Micah and Eitan of NY, Charlotte and Zachary of Illinois and over 60 in Israel. Last month she became a great-great-grandmother.

Her family is grateful for the wonderful care and companionship provided to her at Hoffman Summerwood, the staff at Eldercare Consulting, the Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, and by Dr. Charles Shooks.
