Riley “Lee” Shelton, 92, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away February 4, 2018, at his home, with his family by his side. He was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho.

Lee was born on June 19, 1925, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Warren Oscar Shelton and Julia Bell Riley Shelton, one of four children. Because his father worked for the railroad, he spent his early years in small railroad towns in Idaho, Nevada, and California. His family moved to Osgood when he was in the 3rd grade, where they farmed and he attended school. He graduated from Ammon High School. When Lee was a senior at Ammon High School, he was high-point player on the basketball team every game, and led Ammon to win the State championship.

On November 17, 1944, he married Lois Empey in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. To this union was born three sons, David, Steven and Michael. Lee and Lois made their home in Osgood, Idaho, where Lee farmed for over 40 years. He served in the 2nd World War, where he was stationed first in the Philippines, and then Korea. He was on a ship to fight in Japan when the war ended.
