Lee Pomeroy, age 85, of Spirit Lake, passed away Friday, August 13, 2009, at his home in Spirit Lake. He was born on March 31, 1924, in Laurens, Iowa, to George and Goldie (Perrigo) Pomeroy. Lee graduated from Laurens High School in 1942, and then went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force, serving from 1942 until 1945. Lee was united in marriage to Catharine Johnson on April 10, 1950. Catharine passed away on May 3, 2004.Lee owned and operated four restaurants, three in Laurens, and one in Pocahontas. He was a partner in a Maytag Appliance Distributorship for about twenty years before opening two appliance stores in Laurens and Pocahontas. Lee enjoyed spending his spare time hunting, fishing, playing pool, playing cards, woodworking and feeding his pet squirrels and finches. He truely enjoyed his time with his family and friends.Lee is survived by two daughters, Kris Pomeroy, and her significant other, John Orres, of Farmington, Minnesota, and Lynett Jenkins, and her husband, Rodney, of Brandon, South Dakota.
