Lee Junior Buchanan, 85, of Dillsboro, IN passed away peacefully at the Four Seasons Health Care Facility in Columbus, IN on Thursday, December 30, 2010.

Lee was born in Rising Sun, IN to William L. & Nancy Buchanan on September 2, 1925. Lee was graduated from Rising Sun High School in 1943. He served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Lee also served one term as Ohio County Commissioner.

Lee married Doris BonDurant, the love of his life, on September 25, 1943. They were married 62 years until Doris’ passing in February 2006.

Lee was known for his hard work as a dairy farmer, grocery store owner, Farm Bureau Coop fuel deliveryman, custodial work for Spurlock Janitorial and a courier for the Friendship State Bank. Lee was also known as a warm and friendly man, who never met a stranger. He loved to read, garden and groom his lawn.

Lee will be sadly missed by his three children, William Lee Buchanan (Sally Elrod, fiancee), Marilyn Jo Sanders (Danny) and Robert Lee Buchanan. Lee is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Doris, a sister, Opal Lawton, two
daughters, Audrey Lou Elliott and Gwendolyn Marie Buchanan (stillborn) and one grandson, Lynn Wilber.
