Leanne Hummer, 81, of Paw Paw, passed away Saturday morning, January 22, 2022 peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. Leanne was born September 13, 1940 in Kalamazoo the daughter of Bernard and Annabelle (Matteson) Harenberg.
She enjoyed spending time with family, going to garage sales, and playing Farkle. If you look up “Cat Lady” in the dictionary you will see a picture of her face. She has a sign in her living room that says “Life is just one cat after another” and she lived up to that! She would constantly take in stray cats or feed every outdoor cat in the neighborhood. She was always smiling or laughing about something which in turn made everyone around her smile or laugh.
Leanne was united in marriage to her loving husband, Herbert Hummer, who preceded her in death on March 9, 1982. She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, 2 sisters, and both parents. Leanne is survived by her children, Amy (Dennis) Wycuff, Stan VanDeWalker; grandchildren, Jake (Emily) and Shawna VanDeWalker; sister and brothers, Kathy (Ron) Erwine, Ham Harenberg, Jimmy (Mary) Harenberg; several nieces/nephews; a few of her longest friends, Bonnie Ruimveld, Linda Good, and John Reynolds; and her cats, Maggie, Shorty, Kachow, and Sammy.
