Lawrence Wayne Norem, age 81, of Algona, passed away on November 10, 2019, at his home in Algona.
Lawrence Wayne Norem, the son of Lawrence Joseph and Alice Mary (Miller) Norem, was born on October 24, 1938, in Center Creek Township near Granada, Minnesota. In 1956 he graduated from Granada High School in Granada, MN. On February 20, 1960, Wayne was united in marriage with Ruby Mae Shumski at the Holy Family Catholic Church in East Chain, MN. He had worked as a groundskeeper supervisor for Pathfinder in Jacksonville, Arkansas. Wayne enjoyed fishing, camping, spending time with his grandchildren, scenic driving thru local parks and campgrounds, and stopping for ice cream. Left to cherish Wayne’s memory are his children, Bonita Jean Highfill and her husband Dennis of Plainview, AR, Deborah Marie Recker and her husband Gary of Lu Verne, Penny Lorraine Vitzthum and her husband Kevin of Algona, and Kenneth Wayne Norem and his wife Denise of Goldfield; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Frances Tierney of Minneapolis, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruby; and a son Kennard Norem.
