Lawrence P. Steixner, 88, of Bethlehem died on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospice House surrounded by family. He was the husband of the late Grace (Karba) Steixner who died on January 20, 2009. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late John Steixner and Theresa Lennert Steixner. Lawrence served his country honorably with the U.S. Navy during WW II. He worked at Bethlehem Steel as a welder for 43 years until retiring in 1987. He was a member of the former St. John Capistrano Catholic Church and was an avid gardener. He was preceded in death by brothers, Peter, Anthony, John, Joseph, Frank; sisters, Mary, Rose, Theresa, and daughter Laura Feist. Surviving: son, Lawrence and wife Maureen Steixner of Holland; daughter, Janet and husband Donald Shilling of Green Lane; six grandchildren, Erin Ritter (Paul), Dr. Brian Steixner, Stacy Shilling, Parker Shilling, Tammy Melchior (Tom) and Tommy Corcoran;four great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
