Lawrence “Larry” Patrick Carney Jr., 57, of Toms River, NJ passed away on Wednesday August 13, 2014 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, NJ. Larry was born in New York City, and raised in Jackson, NJ. He also lived in Maryland and Saint Augustine, FL before moving to Toms River, NJ two years ago. Larry worked as a chef for most of his career, studying at the Baltimore Culinary Institute in Maryland, and working at various restaurants in the Baltimore area.
He liked spending time in Atlantic City, listening to the Pogues, and taking long drives on the country roads of New Jersey. He was a member of St. Maximillian Kolbe Church in Toms River and he took very good care of those that he loved. He was predeceased by his father Lawrence P. Carney, Sr. and his brother Michael Carney.
Larry is survived by his mother Agnes and step-father Peter McClain of St. Augustine, FL, his brother Matthew and his wife Nicki of Toms River, NJ; brother Kirk and his wife Colleen of Jackson, NJ; his sister Colleen of Brick, NJ; fiancé Colleen Kitrick of Toms River, NJ; his daughter Angela and grandchildren Brexton and Sophia of Baltimore, MD; his step-daughter Dana Duyk Carney of Neptune, NJ; his godmother and aunt Florence and uncle Ed Kunz of North Carolina; an uncle Luke Gaffey and aunt Kathy of Arizona and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
