Lawrence “Larry” Joseph Cyr, Sr., age 86 of Bethel, CT, passed away at Pope John Paul II Center for Health in Danbury on Friday November 22, 2013. He was the husband of Augustina “Tina” (Perusse) Cyr. Larry was born July 9, 1927 in Waterbury, CT, a son of the late Jude and Helen (Fortin) Cyr. He grew up in the Stamford, CT area and was a 1947 graduate of Stamford High School. After High School, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Larry was employed in the auto body department of the former Dan-Ridge Chevrolet Inc. in Danbury and also served as a Bethel Police Officer. He retired in 1989 after more than 20 years with the Bethel Highway Department and moved to Brandon, Vermont. Larry returned back to Bethel, CT in 2007 to live closer to his family. He was a member of the Bethel Volunteer Fire Department for over 30 years and also a member of the Joseph Tarrant American Legion Post 100 in Bethel.
He is predeceased by three brothers; Albert Cyr of Redding, Clarence Cyr of Byram and Louis Cyr of Danbury and a sister Carolyn Cassavechia of Newtown.
