On Thursday, January 17, Larry Labbe Sr. lost his battle with cancer.

Larry was born on March 3, 1936, in Lockhart, AL.  He married his Crestview High School Sweetheart, Phyllis Barrow in 1954 and together they raised three children.  Larry was first and foremost a devoted husband and father.  He served in the National Guard; Knights of Columbus at Saint Mary’s Parish, Krewe of Bowlegs and served as a Boy Scout Leader.

Larry was preceded in death by his grandmother, Gertrude Labbe and his grandson Jason Brown. He leaves holding him in remembrance; his beloved wife of 58 years, Phyllis; brother Joe Labbe and wife Sally, his children:  sons, Tony Labbe;  Kenny L’Abbe;  with wife Cindy and grandchildren Kenny Jr. and Kelsey;  his daughter, Kim Labbe and granddaughter Jennifer Pallidino with husband Anthony and great granddaughter Kennedy.

Larry helped build and run the Palm Theatre on Eglin Parkway, one of FWB’s first theaters.

To know Larry was to know a quiet and gentle man.  He had a sweet way of calling those dear to him “Shoug” and in his presence you couldn’t help to embrace his lighthearted jokes and his big hearted kindness. Larry loved slower times and the value of a hard day’s work. At times he’d pull out his harmonica and created love, smiles and laughter while he played. Sunday afternoon’s were spent in his easy chair with his favorite football teams. If not there, he was in his garage rebuilding cars to include his 30 year project, a full restoration of a 1926 Nash; which won many awards at car shows.

“He didn’t tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it.”
