He was married for fifty-nine years to the late Betty Jo McKinney of Freetown, Indiana, who passed away in 1999. He married Letha Manlove, Muncie, Indiana in 2001.
Surviving are his wife, Letha Manlove Hendershot; five children, three sons, Stephen Hendershot, (wife, Judy), Sun City, Arizona, Paul M. Hendershot, (wife, Nancy), Muncie, Indiana, and James N. Hendershot, (companion, Colleen Dailey), Muncie, Indiana; two daughters, Annis Aumann, Overland Park, Kansas, and Juanita Ruth Mullins, Muncie, Indiana; three step-sons, Nathan Manlove, (wife, Jana), Noblesville, Indiana, Jeffrey Manlove, (wife, Rebecca), Berne, Indiana, and Daniel Manlove, (wife, Loretta), Indianapolis, Indiana; fifteen grandchildren, Stephen L. Hendershot, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Betty Jo, four brothers, Rosco, W. Jewell, Irvin and his twin brother Loren; three sisters, Laura Wright, Ruth Schneider and Edell Hendershot; his son-in-law, Ekkehard Aumann and daughter-in-law, Linda Hendershot.
