Lavonne Whitefeather-Greenleaf, “Makoonz” which means “Little Bear”, age 69 of Red Lake and the Kingfisher Clan journeyed to the spirit world on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 from the Jourdain-Perpich Extended Care Center in Red Lake, Minnesota. She was born in Red Lake, MN on July 9, 1948 to Emma (Gibbs) and Peter Greenleaf, Sr.
Lavonne enjoyed listening to country music but her favorite was Elvis Presley. She was a traditional dancer, which she liked doing a lot. Lavonne was an amazing cook in her own right but her favorite food was Kentucky Fried Chicken. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren as much as she could.
Those she will join are her parents; Emma and Peter Greenleaf, Sr., sisters; Elizabeth, Eleanor and Marcella, brothers; Ralph, Terry, Peter, Jr., Lance and Lars.
Those she leaves behind are her sons; Aaron Weitzel, Sr. of Bemidji and Allen Weitzel of Minneapolis, sister; Avanell Greenleaf of Red Lake, brothers; Al Greenleaf of New Mexico, Erwin Greenleaf of Detroit Lakes, adoptive mother; Susan Johnson, adoptive sisters; Linda Perkins, Darlene Johnson, Doris Seki and Emily Perkins, adoptive brothers; Steve and Darrell Johnson, 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, her nieces and nephews.
