LaVonne Hund Schuler, born Doris LaVonne Law July 19, 1914, passed away March 7, 2011, at Trinity West in Rock Island, Illinois.
LaVonne was the loving daughter of Ira Clyde and Gladys Marie (Patch) Law; loving wife of LeRoy George Hund and later Leo Clous Schuler; loving sister of Cecil Ian and Kenneth Clyde(both deceased); loving mother of Dale Francis (deceased), David LeRoy (and Edith) of Tucson, AZ, Marilyn Rose (and Richard) Lovett (both deceased), Sharon Kay (and David) Simpson of Lee Center, IL, and Gary Paul (and Ruth) of Reynolds, IL; she is also the proud grandmother of 10, great grandmother of 20; loving stepmother of Leo “Skip” (and Virginia) Schuler of Melvin, IL, David (and Debra) of San Diego, CA, Karen (and Jim, deceased) Mumford of Ridgefield, WA, and Paul Schuler (and Richard Gercken) of Langley, WA. LaVonne was born in Galesburg and lived at Surrey near Cameron, Illinois. She was an accomplished seamstress for Brouillette’s and a warm homemaker, enjoying gardening and canning. She traveled extensively exploring the United States from coast to coast visiting Europe, Taiwan, Philippines, and once camped for several weeks in the outback of Australia. She was an extraordinary cook and an AVID card player. LaVonne spent the first 70 years in or near Galesburg, Illinois.
She graduated from Hedgepath School in Surrey and then Galesburg High School in the class of 1932. She and LeRoy raised their five children in Galesburg, where all attended St. Patrick’s Catholic Church where she was baptized, confirmed, and married.
LeRoy preceded her in death in 1980 after 44 years of marriage. She later moved to Casa Grande, AZ where she married Leo Schuler in 1987. They were married for 20 years traveling extensively in their motor home. Leo preceded her in death in 2007.
