LaVerne Rose Ross (nee Janos), age 88, of South Holland, Ill., was called to Heaven on Feb. 19, 2018, after living a full life. She was surrounded by the love of her family.

Beloved wife of the late Charles Ross; devoted mother to Patrice Kamstra and the late Linda Conley; adored mother-in-law to Brian Kamstra and John Conley; cherished grandmother to Brian, Melissa (Brian Orefice), Kevin, Allen and Kaitlyn (Caleb Thomas) Conley, and Kara, Chris and Lindsey Kamstra; loving great-grandmother to Seraphina and Everett Orefice, and Jayden Kamstra; daughter of the late Stanley and Adeline Veronica Janos (Cichowicz); sister to Patricia Lonegro; loving aunt to numerous nieces and nephews; a friend of many.

Born Feb. 17, 1930, in Chicago, Ill., LaVerne graduated from Lindblom High School, later continuing her education in art and beauty school before devoting her life to her faith and her family. Her flair for beauty and fashion, skilled hand in art, mastery of cooking traditional Polish and Italian foods, extraordinary home-baked birthday cakes and unwavering Christian faith made memorable impressions on her family and beyond.

LaVerne was a faithful member of Spirit of God Fellowship for 45 years. She served in various ministries such as Bread of Life, collecting food and donating her time, teaching at Tabitha House, a women’s recovery ministry and encouraging many. LaVerne’s dedication to the kingdom of God was shown through her love, encouragement, and care for many.
